Many will look down on the profession of skit making and think that comedians make peanuts, but such an assumption is false, as veteran Nigerian comedian Atunyota Alleluya Akpobome, popularly known as Alibaba, has attested to the wealth of skit maker Mark Angel.
According to Alibaba, Mark Angel is among the most affluent comedians in the country, as his monthly earnings can reach an impressive $300,000.
He made this revelation during the latest episode of The Honest Bunch Podcast. Alibaba shed light on the common disbelief in Mark Angel’s wealth due to his understated and unflashy lifestyle. Despite his significant income, Mark Angel’s lifestyle may contribute to the doubt surrounding his financial success.
Alibaba acknowledged the prevailing tendency to underestimate wealth in the comedy profession, suggesting that if Mark Angel were in a different field like politics, banking, or oil, his affluence might be more readily accepted.
He urged people to abandon preconceived notions about success in different professions, emphasising the diverse avenues through which individuals can achieve prosperity, including the field of entertainment.
