The Department of Force Intelligence-Intelligence Response Team (DFI-IRT), in collaboration with the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command Anti-Violent Crimes Section and Anti-kidnapping Section, have announced that they have successfully eliminated the notorious kidnapper kingpin, Magamu, also known as Godara, along with two other members of his gang.
This was achieved after a confrontation between security operatives and the dangerous gang.
The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, disclosed this information on Friday, January 26, while presenting a total of seventeen suspected criminals involved in various crimes such as kidnapping, armed robbery, gunrunning, conspiracy, homicide, and extortion.
Adejobi explained that in the early hours of today, at 1:40 am, security operatives engaged in a firefight with armed bandits, resulting in the deaths of three members of the gang, including Magamu, who was the leader of the group.
The armed bandits were responsible for terrorizing and kidnapping innocent citizens in Bwari-FCT, Kaduna, and Nasarawa States.
Adejobi said: “We’ve recorded another significant stride towards fortifying the security landscape in the Federal Capital Territory following the recent launch of the Special Intervention Squad under the command of the Inspector General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun.
“The SIS, in the early hours of Friday neutralises one of the most wanted kidnap kingpins, Mai Gemu aka Godara and two other members of his gang in an exchange of gunfire in the Bwari area of Abuja in a forest linking Abuja with Kaduna State.”
