Troops of the Nigerian Army have rescued ten passengers who were kidnapped while traveling from Calabar to Abuja.
The incident took place at Ogugu Community along Enugu-Kogi Road in Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State.
Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, a spokesman for the Nigerian Army, stated that the troops acted swiftly upon receiving a distress call, confronted the armed kidnappers, and engaged them in a gun battle.
The kidnappers had stopped a Peace Mass Transit bus, kidnapped the passengers, and brought them into the nearby Ette forest.
The Nigerian Army’s determined efforts resulted in the release of the hostages, as the kidnappers were forced to let go of their victims.
The successful rescue operation highlights the Nigerian military’s dedication to safeguarding the safety and security of its citizens.
